Abstract

This Community Service Activity aims to socialize the use of the TikTok application media in improving English skills for community groups towards Golden Indonesia 2045 in Harjosari II, Medan Amplas District, Medan City. In today's era, English needs to be mastered well, so it is important to learn English properly. Mastering English allows us to obtain much more information than if we only use Indonesian when searching for information either through print media or electronic media. Starting from free trade, the increasing number of foreign companies in Indonesia so that the use of international languages ​​such as English is already very widespread. Improving English skills can be done in various ways. Today, with the ease of technology, namely the TikTok application media, which can be used as a source for the community to learn English easily and interestingly. The community, which includes the next generation of the nation, should have many opportunities to improve their respective qualities in order to achieve Golden Indonesia 2045. Research findings show that TikTok can package English learning in an interesting way. It was found that there are four types of subjects from the TikTok application that are often made, namely vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and common mistakes. After being studied, it was concluded that TikTok users prefer videos in the grammar category. Several factors that make TikTok attractive as an English learning media are short videos, clear and non-monotonous delivery of material, coupled with interesting writing and emoji effects features that can have a positive impact on the learning process of its users. This PKM program is implemented in stages, including: planning, where this step was begun with analyzing the condition and existence of the society to find out the partner's problems and submitting a proposal to the UMN Al Washliyah Medan Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M), socialization, this step was carried out indoors as well as socialization activities for the use of the TikTok application media in improving English skills, evaluation, where this step was taken to evaluate the results obtained or achieved and to see what obstacles were found during the PKM implementation, reflection, where this step was taken to reflect on the results and obstacles found during the PKM activities so that the objectives of this activity are obtained or achieved as planned. This PKM activity received a positive response from the society, because the purpose of this program is to provide socialization to the community about the importance of English language skills. The output target achieved in this Community Service is to increase the motivation of the community or society in learning English with the help of the Tiktok application so that Golden Indonesia 2045 can be realized. The results of this PKM activity are continuously applied by the community in Harjosari II, Medan City.
