The Utilization of Information and Communication Technology in the Perspective of Students of Harapan University Medan

Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is developing rapidly in the 21st century era. This era is known as the information age because at that time the advances in technology and communication that were achieved were very rapid. ICT today has touched almost every aspect of modern life which has become a strength for the generation living in this century. Over time, the development of ICT has brought society to a higher level of civilization with various new problems that must be faced. Previously, one of the obstacles was the digital divide, but along with the development of the times and market dynamics, Information Technology has become cheaper and more affordable for all groups. That's when the problem of how the use of technology begins. This research discusses how to use information technology to students, especially students of the University of Muhammadiyah Luwuk. This research is assessed based on the theoretical opinions of several experts. This study explores the use of Information Technology based on the use of access which consists of the use of books, applications of use: number and diversity, the use of broadband or narrow bands and the use of more or less active or creative. The results of the service show that the use of Information Technology among students of Harapan University of Medan is still not significant. The use of Information Technology is mostly just for fun activities such as chatting, social networking and games.
