Supplementary Use of TPACK-based of English Language Teaching Materials at Amir Hamzah School
Abstract
Supplementing the Use of TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) based English teaching materials is an important initiative in improving the quality of teaching. TPACK integrates three main aspects: knowledge of content, pedagogy, and technology, which are highly relevant in the context of modern education. The accompanying activities were conducted with a series of meetings involving focused group discussion (FGD) and practical training to make teaching material based on TPACK at the Amir Hamzah Medan Private School, accompanied by two meetings, where teachers were guided to design a learning implementation plan (Lesson plan) suitable for the use of TPACK. Then the result of the activities showed increased motivation and knowledge of teachers about the use of TPACK-based English language teaching materials. From the data taken by the teachers given the support of the use of English teaching material based on TPACK, the teachers' understanding of this material is still in the assessment scale of 65% while from the posttest there is an improvement of the teacher’s understanding of 88%. Teachers felt more confident in using technology in learning and able to design more interactive teaching material. Supplementing the use of TPACK-based teaching materials is very important in improving the competence of teachers. With these activities, it is hoped that teachers will be better prepared to face the challenges of education in the digital age and improve learning in the classroom
