Implementation Of Character Education Based On Local Wisdom In The Society 5.0 Era For Students Of Harapan Medan
Abstract
In facing the era of Society 5.0, the world of education plays an essential role in improving the quality of human resources, where a technology-based, human-centered concept requires intensive handling so that students are not exposed to its negative effects. 1) Technological sophistication has made it easy for the younger generation to access news or cultures from abroad without filtering. 2) Many children and teenagers still engage in delinquency in Indonesia, particularly in North Sumatra. 3) The nation's morality has drifted away from norms, ethics, religion, and noble culture. 4) Reducing moral degradation among students. 5) Empathy and tolerance must be cultivated alongside the development of interactions that do not require face-to-face meetings (online), unintentionally forming more individualistic attitudes. Based on the results of community service activities, it was found that training activities, including the delivery of material by the team using several methods such as counseling, training, and mentoring, brought about a significant positive change in students' understanding of implementing character education based on local wisdom, as observed through pretest and posttest evaluations.
