Use of Natural Ingredients as Antibacterial Agents in Household Health Supplies
Abstract
(1) One disease that is still common in Indonesian society is infectious disease, which bacteria or viruses can cause. Infectious diseases caused by bacteria can be treated with antibacterials, while infections caused by viruses can be treated using antivirals. One of the causes of frequent emergence of infectious diseases is poor hygiene and sanitation. Using antibacterials from natural ingredients is a safe way to overcome this problem. Objective: increase public knowledge about natural ingredients that have antibacterial properties and the use of natural ingredients in the preparation of household health supplies (PKRT). (2) Method: education about plants that have antibacterial properties and making dishwashing soap using kuok lime (Citrus nobilis) leaf extract. (3) Results: in the counseling about plants used as antibacterials, the knowledge level was 61% and after the activity, the knowledge level was 82%, while in the activity of making liquid soap using natural ingredients as an antibacterial, the results were 58% and after the activity it was 93%. (4) Conclusion: There was an increase in knowledge about plants that have antibacterial properties by 21% and an increase in knowledge about making dishwashing soap using natural ingredients by 35%.
