Training On The Use of Video Blog (Vlog) As An Effort To Increase Students' Understanding Of English Debate Procedures

Abstract

The partner in this service activity is Universitas Harapan Medan. Campus I is located on Jl.Imam Bonjol No. 35 Medan and Campus II are located on Jl. HM Joni No 70 C Medan, North Sumatra. Based on the results of observations carried out by the service team, it was obtained several problems faced by students at the university, especially those related to English. Most of them still don't dare to communicate in English and even still passive when there are activities or competitionsIt was held by the campus like an English debate competition. Vlog is a blog that is displayed or presented in video form. By using vlogs, training about English debate procedures will be easier for training participants to understand. Service activities are carried out in three stages, namely preparation, implementation and evaluation. Evaluation is provided by collecting data obtained from training activities. Data was taken by summarizing students' understanding when given training delivered using the lecture method and followed by question and answer or discussion. Goal achievement indicators service activities is that 85% of students already understand the procedures for carrying them out English debates and students are able to practice various vocabulary and expressionsin the debate smoothly.
