THE UPGRADING OF STUDENTS’ INTEREST AND BILINGUAL WRITING SKILL (ENGLISH-INDONESIAN) USING WALL MAGAZINE ENTITLED “SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENT”

Abstract

This English-Indonesian bilingual writing activity using wall magazine is much needed
by the students of SMP Yayasan Swasta Al-Razi Sinar Harapan Medan who need
motivation to study for getting achievement, to understand the concept of green school
and to know the importance of green concept, and saving the environment such as to put
the rubbish into the wastebasket. This writing activity uses collaborative learning method
that the students make some groups to discuss and work together in producing their
writing. Through this activity, the students are more interested and motivated to writeand
read because their writing is placed in the interesting media using colourful decorated
wall magazine. Furthermore, the students are able to produce useful writing for the other
students because it contains important information about ―Science and Environment‖.
The result of this writing is beneficial to increase knowledge, awareness and high
motivation to study harder and save the environment.
